Preston Engineering Survey was founded in March 2003 and became a limited company in April 2005. We provide a complete geomatic engineering and surveying service covering the south west of England - Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. Since the company was founded over 1000 individual surveys / jobs have been successfully completed.

John Preston has 30 years experience of the construction and surveying industries at both home and abroad. Trained with a masters degree in civil engineering from Leeds University, John worked for two of the UK's biggest construction companies before turning freelance in the mid 1990's. Following a period working overseas, he decided to set up his own surveying company on returning in 2003. His wide ranging experience extends to all aspects of civil engineering and building construction, both as a surveyor, site engineer and site manager.

Over the years we have built a reputation with local architectural and engineering practices for providing good quality building elevations, cross sections and floor plans as well as detailed topographical land surveys. Our site engineering capability provides construction companies and builders with an efficient setting out service that utilises the latest in surveying techniques, equipment and software. We also carry out work for the general public - self builders, home owners doing extensions, people with boundary problems etc.

Most surveys are commissioned with a view to undertaking development, whether it is a new building, domestic extension, refurbishment or civil engineering project. With a background in the construction industry we have a good understanding of what an Architect or Engineer's requirement would be from a survey. We are therefore better able to tailor our service to meet the requirements of each individual project. All our work is covered by both public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
